But I wanted to explore a different approach for Angular: one where developers have more control over the components they use in their applications.

That idea led me to build ng-elemental.

The idea behind ng-elemental

Traditional component libraries make it easy to get started, but customizing a component beyond its exposed options can sometimes become challenging.

What if Angular developers could add components directly to their projects, own the implementation, and customize it to fit their needs?

That's the workflow that inspired ng-elemental.

The project takes inspiration from the copy-paste approach popularized by shadcn/ui and explores how that experience can work in the Angular ecosystem.

What I'm building

ng-elemental is an open-source Angular component project with three main areas of focus:

Copy-paste components: Give developers greater control over the components they add to their applications.

A CLI: Make it easier to bring components into an Angular project.

MCP support: Explore how AI-powered development tools can interact with component documentation and workflows.

The goal isn't to build another enormous UI framework. It's to make reusable UI building blocks easier to adopt, understand, and customize.

Why Angular?

Angular has a strong ecosystem and is used to build applications of all sizes. I want to contribute to that ecosystem with tooling that fits modern development workflows.

I also think component libraries should be more than collections of attractive buttons and cards. Documentation, accessibility, maintainability, and a good developer experience matter just as much.

Those are areas I want ng-elemental to keep improving as the project evolves.

An open-source project, built in public

I'm developing ng-elemental in the open and sharing the journey as it grows.

There is still work to do, and feedback from Angular developers would be valuable. I'd especially like to hear what you find difficult about existing Angular component libraries and what would make a copy-paste workflow genuinely useful in your projects.

If you're interested in exploring the project:

Documentation: https://ng-elemental.vercel.app/

If you work with Angular, I'd love for you to take a look, try it out, and share your feedback.

Let's make building Angular interfaces a little more flexible.
